Whether it is bold bright colors in geometric or animal prints ? soft, demur pastels in lace and chiffon ? or classic suits with pencil skirts and tailored jackets, the green light for this season is to make your fashion choices environmentally friendly. If you are in need of a special dress for that special wedding day, contrary to popular thought, it does not mean that the limitation is a wedding dress limited to organic cotton. The fabric mills of 2008 are producing cloth from soy, bamboo and even those plastic water bottles that are everywhere and with everyone.
Nina Valenti of NaturevsFuture utilizes organic wool to create her sought-after designs. “Five years ago it was hard to find any green fabrics, but now more and more mills are including green fabrics in their productions,” she said. Valenti will be designing a line this spring out of fabrics that are 100% sustainable.
Kate Goldwater of AuH2O will turn that old T-shirt that is like a long-time friend usually worn to bed, into a new comfortable creation that saves the Earth. Eco-friendly fashions are not being styled for yoga classes anymore.
Top designers are realizing the need to save the environment in their efforts to bring fashion to the forefront. “A lot of young designers are realizing they can design whatever they want and also take care of the environment,” says Jenny Hwa of Loyale Clothing. One of the Loyale designs was a a jersey made from bamboo and a tunic of organic cotton twill.
You can even accessorize with Charmone shoes that sport metallic or prints in eco-friendly pumps that would rival Jimmy Choo. Charmone shoes do not use leather products due to the toxicity levels during production, which is environmentally unsound. “Consumers are frustrated because they are concerned about the environment, but they don’t really know what to do about it,” states Lauren Caroll, of Charmone. “We’re just giving them better options.? JaK Random Art has crafted cuffs from records that have been recycled to go along with your eco-friendly Charmone shoes.
So, the next time you need that perfect outfit for that special event or business meeting, remember that you want everyone to be green with envy, so be fashionable in the newest unique designs made with eco-friendly fabrics.
